The Rum Kitchen Story

2016 – we opened our restaurant in Carnaby Street, Soho which is now our flagship restaurant

2016 – in the same year, we also opened in Brixton

2020 – just before the pandemic, we opened our doors in Shoreditch

2021 – we expanded beyond London with our restaurant in Brighton. Inspired by the coastal ambiance that complements our cuisine, our Brighton location nestled in The Lanes offers stunning sea views as the perfect backdrop

As we evolve, we’re focusing on our unique vibe and core values, constantly elevating our menu and the experiences we offer. Our mission? To serve the Southeast with mouthwatering jerk, rare rums, great beats, and unforgettable moments.

In the heart of West London, 2012, two friends stumbled upon destiny in the form of a restaurant for sale in Notting Hill. This wasn’t just any place – it had a soul, a rhythm, a history. It once housed the renowned Mangrove Club, operated by the activist Frank Crichlow during the 1960s.

A vibrant melting pot of culture, the Mangrove Club was a sanctuary for the Black community. Legends like Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, and Bob Marley were known to grace its halls. It buzzed with activism, creativity, and, most notably, became the de facto command centre for the Notting Hill Carnival.

The friends’ plan was for the restaurant was simple. Rum Punch that could make anyone dance, delicious Jerk BBQ, all mixed with some amazing DJ’s playing the best of Dancehall, Afrobeat, Reggae, Soca and much more. And so, The Rum Kitchen was born.

It was a hit. We out-grew our Notting Hill location and had plans to expand The Rum Kitchen experience across London.
